The Focus on ECGs section, published in the Texas Heart Institute Journal, presents a challenging ECG, a quiz, and a short comment on the interpretation of the ECG. This blog provides a collaborative opportunity to discuss each case in an effort to share the knowledge and the art of interpreting ECGs. Each discussion will close 2 weeks after publication.
About Us
YOCHAI BIRNBAUM, MD, is Professor of Medicine, John S. Dunn Chair in Cardiology Research and Education, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. His interests include clinical cardiology, cardiac intensive care, echocardiography, myocardial protection against ischemia-reperfusion injury, and clinical ECG reading with special emphasis on acute ischemia and interpretation of ECGs of patients with permanent pacemakers/ICDs. He has challenged many of the “traditional” ECG terminology and concepts, trying to bridge between the current pathophysiology, biochemistry and coronary anatomy and physiology knowledge and the 12-lead ECG interpretation.
MOHAMMAD SAEED, MD, is the Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship Program and Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. His interests include clinical cardiac electrophysiology, issues related to implantable cardiac devices, specifically intracardiac electrogram interpretation and troubleshooting, and management of atrial fibrillation, including catheter ablation.
JAMES M. WILSON, MD, is Director of Cardiology Education, Texas Heart Institute, and Professor, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. His interests include cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.
